SCHOOL PROFILE11172009_43513_2.jpg
Fort St. James Secondary School (FSJSS) serves the community of Fort St. James and the surrounding First Nations communities of Nak'azdli, Yekooche, and Tl'azt'en.  The school offers a variety of academic and elective course options for students.  There is also a wide variety of extra curricular sports, activities, and clubs for students to get involved in.  Currently, FSJSS has 388 students in attendance, as well as an Adult Education Program, which serves 99 full time equivalent (FTE) students.  Approximately 54% of the student enrollment at FSJSS is Aboriginal.  The school employs 30 teaching staff, and an additional 19 support staff.

MISSION STATEMENT992009_21531_0.png
The general shape, and the words on FSJSS' Mission Statement accurately represent what the school is all about and how it continues to strive to be a true school community.  The circular form (the center) of its Mission Statement represents a safe and nurturing environment in a dynamic atmosphere, where students can learn, mature, express themselves, practice good citizenship, and define themselves.  FSJSS is not satisfied only to accomplish this within the school; it also works to prepare and send its students out into the greater community.  All these things FSJSS values and strives for as a school.

VISION
Our learners are achieving success while engaged in learning in safe, secure, and healthy environments.  They are contributing and valued members of the community.

SCHOOL GOAL

To increase the success rates of students enrolled in the Junior Core subjects (i.e., English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and PE)
